Montreal Joins the Fight Against the Primate Trade

On Saturday 17 activists in Montreal got together to warn Thomas Cook
travel that a campaign against them in Canada will begin.

We decide to go to a Thomas Cook located inside the Fairview shopping center
in the rich area of Montreal. We first spent 1 hour leafleting in the parking lot,
we informed hundreds of people about Thomas Cook's involvement with Vivisection
and the international boycott against them. We then got inside the shopping centre
and waited in front of the Thomas Cook shop and every time a customer was heading to
go inside we blocked the entrance, gave them leaflets and told them to go to the other
travel agents located just 5 stores beside! Guess what Thomas Cook, ALL of those
possible customers decided to go to your competitor !!! hahaha
After 45mins one of the activist went inside the shop to chat in a friendly way with
the supervisor and explain about the global Gateway to Hell campaign.

We then got to another Thomas Cook in the posh Dorval shopping center.
Again we leafletted in the parking lot for 30 mins and then gave leaflets for
30 mins to all the people who where trying to go inside the Thomas Cook shop.
The same activist went inside the shop to talk with a manager. She told the activist that
someone from the Thomas Cook headquarters called all the Canadian shops and told them they
could be under attack from animal rights activists. They were told what to do if
they where targeted and what to say. Also, if activists turn up, they have to call all the
Thomas Cook from the Montreal area too warn them that big bad activists might come
and terrorize them! This is ridiculous as we explained and we are there to inform the
public so they can choose where they buy their holidays from. Education is what we are
all about of course.

Thomas Cook has control over the monkey trade though–just stop selling
trips to the Mauritius and the monkeys will go free. Thank you Louise for all the
information.

Later that day we receive an email from other activists from Ontario, who also went
after Thomas Cook on this international day against the Mauritius Island.
Unfortunately they had no luck on the entire trip. Like the activists in Montreal
they ran into bankrupt Thomas Cook shops.

They started on Friday in Brockville where the Thomas had just bankrupt a couple of week
ago. Drove 2 hours to Cobourg , they arrived there at 4 o'clock, CLOSED one hour before
their normal hours. I guess business is not too good hey Thomas? They went to one last
for the day– this time the store was open but just a couple of days ago they had
stopped their relation with Thomas Cook Travel and went independent, change their
name and everything.
Saturday morning they drove to London Ontario, went to 2 bankrupt Thomas Cook and 1 more
that severed their link with the Thomas Cook Travel chain.

Well Thomas it doesn't look like you are doing good business in Ontario, Quebec and the
rest of Canada. Imagine what it's going to be with us ruining your reputation!
Thomas, we will do everything in our power to tarnish your PR and highlight your
connections with Mauritius. No one will want to go in one of your shops, not even to
use the toilet!
